What is your philosophy on care?

Simply put, every detail matters. Ensuring that those who choose Rivershealth as their home are happy and healthy is key to what "drives" all that we do. We strive to provide a setting that provokes the warmth of home, while accommodating to the most complex physical and medical needs of the individuals.

What are your specialties?

Rivershealth supports individuals with all levels of developmental and intellectual disability. However, our expertise lies within supporting medically fragile conditions. Our CEO, Mark Donius has a Medical and Psychiatric Background and is well versed in all levels of care. With many years of experience working at a training center, Mark is able to guide programming to meet the specific medical, behavioral, spiritual, and emotional needs of each individual.

How would you describe your homes?

At Rivershealth we put careful consideration into the location of our homes. Specific attention is given to neighborhood composition, proximity to medical care and quality interior designs. All Rivershealth homes are wheelchair accessible, have functional designs, and promote comfort and safety.

When are managers on site?

Each dwelling has an experienced and dedicated Home Manager who has been specifically selected to ensure all operations and individual supports are being implemented to the highest level of standards. Program Directors are an integral part of operations and maintain contact with each home manager daily to review any concerns, questions related to individual care, staffing needs, and overall supports. CEO, Mark Donius is involved in each home with a hands on approach and provides open communication with each Home

Do you have nurses available?

Yes! Rivershealth has experience in providing care to those who require complex medical support. We have nursing services available at each home based on the specific needs of the individual, physician orders and approval from case management.

What are your community medical resources?

We excel in establishing and utilizing relationships with quality Medical providers in all areas of care including: Psychiatry, Gastroenterology, Dentistry, Urology, OB/GYN, Neurology and Internal Medicine. In addition, we have the ability to provide Therapy services through community providers along with Dietary services and Nursing as needed at each home.

What is the future of Rivershealth?

Rivershealth is grounded in the state of Virginia with assets to maintain current positions and establish growth with new construction approved for four additional homes. As a former training center employee, CEO, Mark Donius is dedicated to supporting individuals integrating into community settings and looks forward to growing Rivershealth to accommodate these goals and meet the specific needs of individuals in the community setting.

How many Individuals live in each home?

All of Rivershealth homes support 4 individuals. We believe that by providing supports to 4 or fewer individuals, the quality of care increases and individuals are able to feel the family environment that we strive for.

Who pays for rent, food, clothing, medication and other expenses?

All expenses are paid for through each individuals Social Security Benefit and from direct billing to CMS. Other sources such as bridge funding, and the exceptional supports rate are available to support high intensity needs.

What kind of diets do you provide?

We recognize that food and eating can be a very social and pleasurable experience. We shop for each home weekly at the local grocery store. All menus are designed to provide the food we all enjoy with considerations for likes and dislikes. Our food is prepared fresh and are well balanced. We offer specialized diets and can accommodate various modified diets such as ground, mechanical soft and pureed. Rivershealth also consults with a nutritionist when needed based on individual need.

Can I call and visit?

Yes, Yes, and Yes! You will find it very easy and comfortable to visit with your loved one at a Rivershealth home. We encourage family involvement and will accommodate most any requests. Families are able to visit at any time and without notice. Many residents of Rivershealth go on outings with their families or at the very least are supported with weekly or bi-weekly phone call updates. It is our standard practice to involve family members in the care of their loved ones and encourage any and all involvement.
